I am a born and raised New Yorker. I love NYC with all my heart. I have been traveling around the world since I was a little girl. I started off traveling with my parents for family vacations. I have also traveled with my friends and by myself. I prefer to plan a trip myself, but I have been part of four group trips/tours (Boston, Israel, Egypt, and Orlando). When I was little my mom would drag me from one historic place to another. That inspired my love of history and I went on to study it during my undergraduate years. I teach high school history. I love visiting the places I teach and sharing my travels with my students. I may not be able to take them to Greece, but I can bring Greece to them.
I have been obsessed with Egypt since I was about 5. I have 3 bookcases full of books on Egypt. I even have an Egyptian corner of my room. I went to Egypt in 2011. You can read about that trip here. I’m currently studying Egyptology and am currently in year two of my three year certificate program.
My favorite places in the world are: NYC, Las Vegas, Athens, Abu Simbel, Giza, Philadelphia, London, Paris, Versailles, and Washington DC. I would highly recommend visiting all of them! I really want to see as much of the USA as I can, but sadly so much of it is farmland. I try to do a couple of short domestic trips each year in addition to one international trip. If I had my way I would just take a year off and see the world. Until then, a bunch of mini trips will have to do.
Additionally, I love to eat. Who doesn’t? I love sweets!!! You can usually find me hitting up as many bakeries as I can when I’m in a new place. I also love mac n cheese! I’m actually kind of obsessed with it. 🙂 So I often visit restaurants, bars, diners, markets, etc. that serve it. I enjoy watching food shows and often try to go the places they visit when I’m away. To find links to a list of food places that were on shows I watch, please visit my Mish Mash page.
Happy reading, traveling, and eating!
