Traveling with a large group of Aussies made me learn a lot of Aussie words and phrases. By the end of my nine days in Egypt with them I was speaking with a bit of an Australian accent. I’m still able to distinguish between an Eastern Australian accent and a western one. Additionally, I learned how to convert between Celsius and Fahrenheit fairly quickly. Here’s what I learned:
# sleeps (ex 2 sleeps)=# nights (ex 2 nights)
What’s the haps?=What’s up?
Hot chips=French fries
Wanker=Stupid guy who is full of himself
Netball=Similar to basketball
Chicken Salt=Salt with chicken extract along with other spices. They put it on French fries, chicken, veggies, etc.
Panadol=Like our Advil
There were more, but I can’t remember them all.

I’m lucky enough to have friends and family who think about me when they travel. They bring me back postcards and inspire me to travel to where they have been. The postcards below include China (thanks Kristy), Italy (thanks Veronica and Gayla), Amsterdam (thanks Gayla-even though I’ve technically been here if you count the airport), New Orleans, Poland (thanks Annette), Croatia, Turkey, Australia (thanks Janelle, Megan, Alexis, and Sonja), Switzerland (thanks to my dad), Ile Maurice (thanks Caitlin), Alaska (thanks Gabby), Bali (thanks Janelle and Megan), and many more.
