Ok it’s not really made of porcelain, but it is still a pillbox. It is made of plastic and when you hold it up to the light it appears see through. They did a great job with the ocean part of it. The colors and the waves made it look somewhat realistic. I like the mermaid on it. It reminds me of Ariel. I bought it on one of the many walks my mother and I took while there. We went to a couple shopping areas and several local markets. The box doesn’t contain any trinket inside. Since it is made of plastic it is very light and was super easy to pack. I’m always afraid they will break in my suitcase home since the porcelain ones are usually very fragile and most of the places I buy them from don’t wrap them well.

My mom got me this pillbox when I was in middle school. It is actually the first one in my collection. At the time I wanted to be an actress so it was perfect. What little girl and inspiring actress doesn’t want a miniature Oscar. The pillbox doesn’t contain any little trinket inside, which is a shame. I would have loved a mini Oscar or clapboard inside. Out of my large collection of both travel and other random pillboxes this one is still my favorite.
I got this pillbox on one of my many trips to Aruba. The box is shaped like a sandal. I most likely bought it in one of the hotel gift shops or in Oranjestad. The box was $8. Unfortunately there wasn’t any little item inside. I like this pillbox because it is very different than my others. It is also much heavier than the others. I love the scene on the sandal it definitely transports me back to Aruba every time I look at it.
I got this box in Seattle this past June and I honestly can’t remember which store I purchased it in. We were all over. I’m leaning towards the Space Needle. It was $7.75. The quality isn’t that good compared to the other ones I own. There was no trinket inside :-(. The box is of the Seattle skyline which is very picturesque.
This box is of the Portland skyline. I bought this past June for $7.95. I bought it at the gift shop for the historical society. The guy was super sweet and made sure I had a new one in a box. The trinket inside the box is of a rose. That’s because Portland is known as Rose City. The box reminds me of the Boston skyline one I own.
I got this box near Quincy Market in March of 2007. It was around St. Patrick’s Day. There was a little shop on the corner that I picked it up from. I was on Spring Break with my school at the time. I don’t remember how much it was but it was probably $8 or $9. The box is of the Boston skyline. The trinket inside is of a lobster, which is super cute! This box is very similar to other ones I have in my collection. You will see them soon.
I bought this box on my most recent trip to Boston. I believe it was $8 or $9. I bought it at the Old North Church gift shop. I own another pillbox from Boston that I bought in Feb. 2007, which I’ll post soon. This box is obviously of the church and has two images of Paul Revere on it. Old North Church is where he had the lanterns hung to let everyone that the British were coming. The trinket inside is of a lantern.
This box is from one of many trips to Aruba. There are a lot of styles to choose from. I bought this one for $7.50. You can buy them in Oranjestad or at the giant gift shop in the Holiday Inn. I’m sure there are other spots as well. This box is of Delft clogs. The trinket inside is a mini pair of clogs.
This box is from one of my many trips to Baltimore, Maryland. They have several different boxes to choose from. Baltimore is known for its crabs hence this box. I bought by the harbor for $7.99. The trinket inside is a mini crab.
